The road to Bremerhaven - crucial time for the Last Ocean

 

In two months time 25 CCAMLR nations will gather in Bremerhaven, Germany

to decide whether or not to establish a large marine protected area in the Ross

Sea. The MPA is based on a joint proposal submitted last year by NZ and US

and while it covers a considerable area, it still allows for commercial fishing

in the Ross Sea. This proposal is an important first step, but does not go far

enough and offer the Ross Sea the full protection it deserves. It is vital that we

maintain our voice in this debate in the lead up to CCAMLR so that no further
