CCAMLR 2014 meeting underway

This week the 33rd meeting of CCAMLR in Hobart got underway and decision day is next Friday

31 October. Environmental campaigners are hoping that talks in Australia this week on creating Antarctic marine reserves will make progress. But Russia and China have so far blocked the scheme, and some analysts think tensions surrounding Ukraine will add to the difficulties.

On a happier note The Last Ocean documentary was recently awarded the  Stelvio National

Park Award at the 2014 Sondrio Festival– Documentary Film Festival on Parks in Italy.

The film has also been selected in competition at BLUE 2014 in St. . Petersburg, Florida,

from 3rd-9th November. The Last Ocean is a finalist in the Documentary Feature Film

and  Ocean Issues categories, and has also received an Honorable Mention for Best
